Tannat is a French red grape variety. Belongs to the eco-geographical group of Western European varieties. Late maturing variety. The leaf is medium, dense, dark green, rounded, three-lobed, slightly dissected. The cluster is medium, cylindrical, dense or medium density. Berries of medium size, rounded, dark blue, almost black. The pulp is juicy, the skin is dense, very thick, the taste is tart. Yields are below average and low. Resistance to fungal diseases is weak. Frost resistance is low.

The variety is distinguished by a high content of tannins. The aromatic profile of the Tannat variety is a mixture of ripe red berries (raspberries, cherries, blackberries). The variety is used for the production of dry wines, roses and wines with long exposure.
